Erling Haaland Calls on Man City to Unite: “We Have to Spread the Love”

Erling Haaland has urged Manchester City to remain united during a period of uncertainty following the club’s ruling in their Premier League financial case.
City could face significant consequences, including a points deduction or even expulsion from the Premier League, after an independent commission found the club guilty of more than 100 breaches of financial regulations. The charges relate to alleged financial misconduct between 2009 and 2018, involving commercial agreements and financial reporting worth more than £900 million ($1.2 billion).
Haaland joined City in 2022, after the period covered by the charges, but the current squad could still be affected by any punishment imposed on the club.
The Premier League leaders are set to return to competitive action on Sunday with a trip to Liverpool, marking their first match since the verdict was announced.
Haaland has called on his Manchester City teammates to maintain a positive mindset, remain united and focus on winning matches despite the uncertainty surrounding the club.
“We have to stay positive, look ahead and try to win football games and try to enjoy the situation and win the game,” Haaland told the club’s official website.
“We have to stick together, and we have to spread the love to each other.
“So yeah, stick together, enjoy the ride and smile.”
The Norwegian striker signed a long-term contract with City last year, committing his future to the club until 2034. However, the potential impact of any punishment could play a role in shaping his future.
Haaland has established himself as one of City’s key players, scoring 169 goals in 205 appearances for the club. He has also been instrumental for Norway, helping lead his national team to the quarter-finals of the World Cup.
Several of Europe’s leading clubs could be interested in signing Haaland if Manchester City are relegated from the Premier League or forced to spend an extended period outside the Champions League.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding the club’s future, the Norwegian striker has stressed his strong connection with City and their supporters.
“I care a lot about City, I have to say,” Haaland added.
“I care a lot about the fans because I’m a fan myself — I feel with them as well.”
