Għajnsielem maintained their perfect start to the BOV Gozo Football League First Division with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Kerċem Ajax, while Xewkija Tigers moved into second place following an emphatic 5-2 win against Sannat Lions in the fifth round of matches.

Meanwhile, Xagħra United and Qala Saints shared four goals in an entertaining 2-2 draw at the Gozo Stadium.

Għajnsielem 3–2 Kerċem Ajax

Għajnsielem continued their impressive early-season form by recording their fourth successive victory, overcoming a determined Kerċem Ajax side in a five-goal encounter on Sunday.

The league leaders made an excellent start and broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute through Stefan Cassar.

Just two minutes later, Jhon Alejandro Gonzalez Castillo doubled Għajnsielem’s advantage, putting them firmly in control.

Kerċem fought back after the interval and reduced the deficit in the 54th minute when Andre Gabriel Castro Martins converted a penalty.

With the visitors pushing for an equaliser, Għajnsielem restored their two-goal cushion in the 84th minute through Jesus Maria Meneses Sabater.

However, Kerċem refused to surrender and Isaias Moura Vera Cruz De Souza struck two minutes later to set up a tense conclusion.

Għajnsielem held on to secure all three points, maintaining their position at the summit with a maximum 12 points from four matches.

Sannat Lions 2–5 Xewkija Tigers

Xewkija Tigers produced an impressive attacking display to defeat Sannat Lions 5-2 on Sunday, moving into second place in the standings.

Sannat made a promising start and took the lead after nine minutes through Yeangel Emilio Montero Manzano.

However, Xewkija responded strongly, with Matthias Said equalising in the 19th minute before completing his brace a minute before half-time to give the Tigers a 2-1 interval advantage.

Xewkija maintained their momentum after the restart and extended their lead in the 54th minute through Brian Alejandro Parada.

Adams Amoako added a fourth goal in the 63rd minute, putting the visitors firmly in command.

Sannat pulled a goal back five minutes later when Lucas Felix De Melo Gomes converted a penalty, but any hopes of a comeback were extinguished in the 77th minute when Parada struck his second goal of the afternoon.

The victory lifted Xewkija to nine points from five matches, while Sannat remained rooted to the bottom of the table without a point after five outings.

Xagħra United 2–2 Qala Saints

Xagħra United and Qala Saints produced an entertaining four-goal draw on Friday evening, with three goals arriving during a dramatic six-minute spell late in the second half.

Qala Saints took the lead in the 18th minute through Roberto Monteiro Rondinely and appeared on course for victory as they maintained their slender advantage deep into the second half.

However, Xagħra staged a spirited comeback, with Nicholas Inguanez restoring parity in the 76th minute.

Four minutes later, Ibrahim Salis completed the turnaround by putting Xagħra 2-1 ahead.

Their celebrations were short-lived, though, as Kenneth Mercieca struck in the 81st minute to bring Qala level and ensure the points were shared.

The result left Qala Saints third in the standings with seven points from four matches, while Xagħra moved to four points from the same number of outings.
