Malta’s UEFA Regions’ Cup head coach Alfred Attard has named a 30-man provisional squad ahead of the Intermediate Round of the competition, which will take place in Cork, Republic of Ireland, in November.

Attard, assisted by Clint Tabone, will oversee the initial training sessions before reducing the squad to 18 players, who are scheduled to depart for Ireland on Friday, October 30.

Malta have been drawn in Group 8 alongside Croatia’s Split, hosts Munster and Belarusian representatives Uzda.

The UEFA Regions’ Cup brings together 35 teams representing European national associations, divided into eight single-venue mini-tournaments. Although the competition is primarily contested by regional amateur selections, Malta and San Marino participate with national amateur teams.

Malta will open their campaign against Split at Knockgriffin Park on Sunday, November 1, before facing hosts Munster at Turners Cross Stadium on Wednesday, November 4.

Attard’s side will conclude their group commitments against Uzda at Knockgriffin Park on Saturday, November 7.

The provisional squad includes players from several clubs competing in Malta’s domestic leagues, with Senglea Athletic providing the largest contingent of six players.

Ta’ Xbiex have three representatives, while Qormi, Dingli Swallows, Luqa St Andrew’s, Qrendi and Mqabba each have two players included in the selection.

Attard and his coaching staff will use the forthcoming training sessions to assess the players before announcing the final travelling squad.
