Hockey Malta kickstarts season with the Tony Tabone Memorial Tournament
The Malta Hockey Association kicked off the 2026–2027 hockey season for the senior category with the Tony Tabone Memorial Hockey Tournament, which was held at the Hockey Complex in Kordin.
Qormi made an excellent start, defeating Floriana 3–0 and White Hart 6–0, while drawing 1–1 against Żurrieq. Żurrieq secured a 1–0 victory over White Hart and a 2–0 win against Floriana. Floriana also recorded a victory against White Hart, rounding off their campaign with a win.
The tournament honours the memory of Tony Tabone, who served as national team coach from 1997, secretary of the Hockey Association and a member of White Hart Hockey Club. His contribution remains closely linked to the development of hockey in Malta.
Meanwhile, the Super Cup will take place next weekend, with champions Qormi Daikin facing Floriana Young Stars.
