Malta welcome Andorra to the National Stadium in Ta’ Qali on Sunday, with kick-off scheduled for 18:00, as the two sides meet again in the UEFA Nations League.

The Knights will be looking to return to winning ways after playing out a 1-1 draw against Gibraltar in their most recent Nations League encounter. Malta dominated possession with 62 per cent and registered five shots on target, with Joseph Mbong getting on the scoresheet.

Andorra, meanwhile, earned a goalless draw away to Gibraltar in their latest Nations League outing at Europa Sports Park. Koldo’s side enjoyed 56 per cent possession and managed four shots on target.

The Andorrans also played a friendly on Friday night, suffering a 3-0 defeat away to Lithuania at the Darius and Girėnas Stadium.

Malta unbeaten in last five meetings

Malta come into the match with a positive recent record against Andorra, having won the reverse fixture 2-1 just eight days ago at the Estadi de la FAF.

The victory extended Malta’s unbeaten run against Andorra to five matches, with the Knights recording three wins and two draws during that period.

Malta’s recent record

In their last 10 competitive matches, Malta have recorded two wins, five defeats and three draws, scoring an average of 0.7 goals from 3.6 shots on target and 8.6 attempts per game.

The Knights have averaged 44.7 per cent possession and 2.9 corners per match during this period. Their opponents have averaged 2.3 goals from 4.9 shots on target and 12.7 attempts, while earning 4.6 corners per game.

Teddy Teuma and Irvin Cardona are Malta’s leading scorers over the last 10 competitive matches, with two goals each, while Joseph Mbong has scored once. Ilyas Chouaref leads the assists chart with two, while goalkeeper Henry Bonello has kept two clean sheets.

Andorra struggling for results

Andorra have endured a difficult run, losing eight and drawing two of their last 10 competitive matches.

During that period, they have averaged just 0.4 goals from 5.0 attempts and 1.6 shots on target per game, while recording only 33.8 per cent possession and 1.3 corners on average.

Their opponents have averaged 1.8 goals from 11.5 attempts and 4.7 shots on target, while winning an average of 5.7 corners per game.

Guillaume Lopez is Andorra’s top scorer over the last 10 competitive matches with two goals, while Moises San Nicolas and Ian Olivera have one each. Albert Rosas and Lopez have provided one assist apiece.

Malta favourites to claim victory

Malta will start as favourites and will be aiming to make home advantage count against an Andorra side that has struggled badly for results in recent months.

The Knights have won three of their last five meetings with Andorra, while the visitors have lost eight of their last 10 competitive matches and 16 of their last 20.

With Malta having already defeated Andorra 2-1 away from home just eight days ago, the hosts will be confident of completing another victory and strengthening their position in the Nations League.
