Malta U21 face Northern Ireland in European Championship qualifier

Malta U21 are set to face Northern Ireland U21 in the UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifiers at the National Stadium in Ta’ Qali.
The Maltese youngsters head into the encounter looking to put an end to a difficult run of results, having suffered six consecutive defeats. Malta have also lost their last three matches on home soil.
The qualification campaign has proved particularly challenging for Malta, who have managed to score just once in their seven matches so far. They have conceded 28 goals during the campaign, leaving them with a difficult task as they look to end the qualifying phase on a more positive note.
Northern Ireland U21 have also endured an inconsistent spell, losing three of their last six matches. Their away record has been mixed as well, with two defeats from their four away outings this season.
Malta will therefore be hoping to take advantage of home conditions and produce a much-improved performance against Northern Ireland. Despite their difficult campaign, the Maltese side will be determined to show a strong response and compete for a positive result at the National Stadium.
