Msida crowned National First Division Boċċi champions
Msida were crowned 2026 National First Division Boċċi champions after defeating Għaxaq 21-17 in a closely contested final at the Lija Boċċi pitch.
The match lasted more than three hours and remained undecided until the closing stages, with the score level at 17-17 at one point. Għaxaq had qualified directly for the final after finishing top of the standings, while Msida reached the title decider through the play-offs.
Msida’s squad consisted of Andre Caruana, Dunstan Zammit, George Ronayne, Melvin Zammit, Paul Vassallo and Paul Pace, while Noel Axiaq, Joseph Tabone, Michael Buhagiar, Chris Mallia, Emanuel Spiteri and Damon Grima represented Għaxaq.
Mario Enriquez refereed the final, assisted by Redeemer Azzopardi.
The victory marked Msida’s fourth national championship title. Federation President Clinton John Saliba presented the trophy to the champions following the match.
