Oratory Youths booked their place in the next round of the GFA Second Division Knock-Out after an entertaining 7-3 victory over St Lawrence Spurs at the Gozo Stadium on Thursday.

Oratory built a commanding three-goal advantage during the first half before St Lawrence threatened a comeback through two penalties from Wesley Simeao Dos Santos. However, the Youths responded emphatically with four further goals to put the result beyond doubt.

Dalton Alexandre Roque Pereira opened the scoring after 12 minutes before Lucas Alexandrini Barick doubled Oratory’s advantage in the 21st minute.

Roque Pereira struck again a minute before half-time to make it 3-0, but St Lawrence were handed a lifeline in added time when they were awarded a penalty. Dos Santos converted from the spot to reduce the deficit to 3-1 at the interval.

St Lawrence moved to within a goal of their opponents on the hour when Dos Santos converted another penalty to make it 3-2.

Any hopes of a comeback were quickly dented, however, as Damon Hili restored Oratory’s two-goal cushion just three minutes later.

Oratory then took complete control in the closing stages. Jason Pace made it 5-2 in the 77th minute before Sean Attard added a sixth four minutes later.

Gean Dias Nascimento De Freitas completed Oratory’s scoring in the 86th minute, with Gabriel Debrincat grabbing a consolation goal for St Lawrence a minute later to complete the 7-3 scoreline.
