Malta climb to 160th in latest FIFA World Rankings
Malta have climbed one place in the latest FIFA World Rankings following their recent results under head coach Emilio De Leo, moving up to 160th in the world.
The latest rise represents Malta’s best FIFA ranking since December 2015 and is another indication of the progress made by the national team in recent months.
Malta’s improvement is particularly notable considering that the national team dropped as low as 191st in the FIFA rankings in December 2017.
Under De Leo, the Maltese side have continued to make significant strides, winning four of their last five international matches. The only game they failed to win during this run ended in a 1-1 draw against Gibraltar.
The latest ranking provides further encouragement for the national team, who are continuing to climb the FIFA standings and build on their recent positive results.
