Barcelona captain Raphinha is set to miss the club’s next two fixtures after suffering a hamstring problem while on international duty with Brazil, head coach Hansi Flick confirmed on Friday.

Although the injury is not considered serious, Flick stressed that the club would take a cautious approach to avoid further problems, given the winger’s injury struggles last season.

“The picture shows something, and it’s not a big injury,” Flick told reporters, while emphasising the importance of managing the situation carefully.

“We have to take care of this because last season he had a lot of injuries. I think three injuries,” the Barcelona boss added.

As a result, Raphinha will miss Saturday’s LaLiga meeting with Getafe and Tuesday’s Champions League clash against Galatasaray in Istanbul.

Barcelona will now have to manage his absence carefully as they look to navigate the two upcoming fixtures without their captain.

Flick was also critical of the demanding schedule placed on players, which he believes contributed to Raphinha picking up the injury during Brazil’s friendly match in Australia.

Operating as a centre-forward for Barcelona since the beginning of the season, Raphinha has been in outstanding form, scoring 14 goals in eight appearances across all competitions to become the leading scorer among players in Europe’s major leagues.

However, the Brazilian has a history of recurring muscle injuries that have disrupted his career. He also returned from the March 2026 international break with an injury after Brazil faced France in a friendly in Boston, raising further concerns over his fitness.

Raphinha’s absence proved costly for Barcelona during the closing stages of last season, particularly in the Champions League, where they were eliminated by Atletico Madrid in the quarter-finals.

The Brazilian forward also sustained a hamstring injury while representing his country during the 2026 World Cup, adding to his history of fitness concerns.

Despite the latest setback, Barcelona have made a strong start to the current LaLiga campaign. The reigning two-time Spanish champions remain unbeaten and sit at the top of the standings, holding a five-point advantage over Atletico Madrid.
