Borussia Dortmund have completed the signing of highly rated Greek teenager Konstantinos Karetsas from Genk, with the attacking midfielder agreeing to a five-year contract in a deal reportedly worth €30 million, plus performance-related bonuses.

The 18-year-old arrives in Germany after an impressive breakthrough campaign in Belgium, where he registered 11 assists in the Belgian Pro League. Karetsas has also made a strong start to his international career, scoring three goals in 10 appearances for Greece.

Dortmund moved quickly to secure the talented youngster as they look to replace the creativity lost following the departure of Julian Brandt, who left the club on a free transfer earlier this summer.

Speaking after completing the move, Karetsas expressed his excitement about joining one of Europe’s biggest clubs.

“Borussia Dortmund is a special club, and I am incredibly proud to now wear the black and yellow jersey,” the teenager said.

Sporting director Ole Book believes the Greek international will add a new dimension to Dortmund’s attack.

“Konstantinos will enrich our team with his creativity and football intelligence,” Book said. “He is technically outstanding and has the ability to find quick solutions in tight spaces, particularly in the final third.”

The former Bundesliga champions are expected to remain active in the transfer market before the window closes. Dortmund have also been strongly linked with Cologne teenager Said El Mala as they continue reshaping their squad after finishing second behind Bayern Munich in last season’s Bundesliga.
