Cavan Sullivan Stays Committed to Man City Project Despite Barcelona Interest

Cavan Sullivan remains committed to his planned move to Manchester City, despite renewed speculation linking him with Barcelona.
Spanish media reports have identified the Philadelphia Union teenager as a potential target for the Catalan club, raising the possibility of competition for one of the most promising young talents in American soccer.
However, there is currently no indication that an alternative destination is being seriously considered. Sullivan is reportedly focused on his development in Major League Soccer (MLS) and with the United States national team before making the anticipated switch to English football.
The 17-year-old has already agreed to join Manchester City, with the transfer scheduled for January 2028, when he will be eligible to move from the United States to England.
The current agreement remains unchanged, despite uncertainty surrounding the punishment the Manchester club could face after being found guilty of breaching Premier League financial regulations.
Sullivan’s long-term future at City is expected to be reviewed in greater detail closer to the planned transfer date.
Further discussions are expected to determine whether Sullivan is ready to compete for a place in Enzo Maresca’s first-team squad or would benefit more from a loan move to gain valuable experience in European senior football.
For now, however, the teenager continues to make impressive progress. His performances for Philadelphia Union and the United States national team have reinforced his reputation as one of the country’s most promising young talents following his rapid rise.
Sullivan is a confident player who appears focused on taking the right steps to advance his career.
For the time being, Philadelphia Union remain in control of his immediate future and are keen to make the most of his time at the club.
The MLS side are enjoying a strong run of form, remaining unbeaten in 13 matches since the league resumed following the World Cup break.
It is an encouraging period for Sullivan, and although Barcelona’s reported interest has added another dimension to his story, the expectation remains that his long-term path will lead to Manchester City.
