Sven Mijnans Set to Join PSV After Agreement with AZ
PSV have reportedly reached an agreement to sign AZ captain Sven Mijnans, with the Dutch midfielder now set for a move to the Eindhoven club.
The deal between the two Eredivisie sides is understood to be in place, paving the way for Mijnans to complete his switch once final formalities are resolved.
Mijnans, who has been a key figure and leader at AZ, is now expected to join PSV as they continue to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
Sven Mijnans was appointed AZ captain in 2024 and has since become a key figure in the side that ended the club’s 13-year wait for KNVB Beker success. AZ secured the trophy with a 5-1 win over NEC Nijmegen in April, a match in which Mijnans also scored the second goal in the 67th minute.
The midfielder’s absence from AZ’s pre-season friendly against KRC Genk on Saturday quickly fuelled speculation over a potential move, with reports linking him closely to a transfer to PSV.
Ajax manager Michel is understood to have made Mijnans a priority target this summer and held detailed discussions with the player. However, according to Mounir Boualin, Mijnans opted for PSV once the reigning Eredivisie champions made their interest concrete.
