Patrick Kluivert’s Son knocking on the door of Barcelona’s first team

Patrick Kluivert’s Son Shane Eyes Barcelona First-Team Breakthrough Under Hansi Flick
Shane Kluivert, the youngest son of Patrick Kluivert, is taking another significant step in his football career as he looks to break into Barcelona’s first team during preseason.
The 17-year-old forward has been included in Hansi Flick’s preseason squad, giving him a valuable opportunity to impress the German coach ahead of the new campaign. With several senior players still unavailable due to international commitments and extended holidays following the summer’s international tournaments, a number of La Masia graduates have been handed the chance to train with the first team—and Shane is among the standout prospects.
Like his older brother Justin Kluivert, Shane is a left-sided winger who prefers to cut inside onto his stronger right foot. The talented youngster joined Barcelona’s La Masia academy from Paris Saint-Germain nearly a decade ago and has steadily progressed through the club’s youth ranks.
During the 2025-26 season, Kluivert divided his time between Barça Atlètic and the club’s Juvenil A side. He made 23 appearances for Barça Atlètic, scoring twice, while also registering four goals and one assist for the Under-19 team.
The coming weeks could prove crucial for the Dutch youngster. Flick will closely evaluate Kluivert throughout preseason before deciding whether he is ready for a permanent place with the senior squad or should continue his development between Barça Atlètic and the youth setup.
With his famous surname, technical ability, and an opportunity to impress under Barcelona’s new manager, Shane Kluivert now has the chance to take the biggest step of his young career and follow in his father’s footsteps at Camp Nou.
