Mjällby discover Champions League route after Red Imps qualifying draw

Mjällby AIF have discovered their potential path to the next stage of UEFA Champions League qualifying, with either Georgia or Slovakia awaiting if they can overcome Lincoln Red Imps in the second qualifying round.

The winner of the tie will progress to face either Iberia 1999 or Slovan Bratislava in the third qualifying round, giving Mjällby the chance to continue their historic European adventure.

Mjällby Prepare for First European Campaign

The Allsvenskan champions are set to experience European football for the first time in the club’s history when they welcome Lincoln Red Imps for the first leg on 21 July.

The return fixture will take place in Gibraltar on 28 July, with Mjällby hoping to secure progression and keep their Champions League dream alive.

The third qualifying round draw, held on 20 July, confirmed that Mjällby would host the first leg once again if they advance. That match is scheduled for 4 or 5 August, with the second leg taking place away from home on 11 August against either Iberia 1999 or Slovan Bratislava.

Europa League Safety Net for Mjällby

If Mjällby are eliminated by Lincoln Red Imps, their European journey will continue in the UEFA Europa League qualifying rounds.

A defeat would send the Swedish champions into the third qualifying round of the Europa League, where they would face either Omonia Nicosia of Cyprus or Kairat Almaty of Kazakhstan.

Hammarby’s Difficult Europa League Draw

Meanwhile, Hammarby IF face a challenging route in the UEFA Europa League qualifying campaign.

The Stockholm club begin their second qualifying round tie on 23 July when they host Belgian giants Anderlecht at 3Arena.

If Hammarby manage to progress, they will face another difficult European test in the third qualifying round. Their next opponent would be the winner of the tie between Dynamo Kyiv of Ukraine and PAOK of Greece, with matches scheduled for 6 and 13 August.

European Challenges for IFK Göteborg and GAIS

In the UEFA Conference League, IFK Göteborg could face a difficult third qualifying round opponent if they overcome Levadia Tallinn.

Victory would set up a meeting with either Cherkasy of Ukraine or Belgian side Gent.

Meanwhile, local rivals GAIS will meet either Valur of Iceland or Zrinjski Mostar of Bosnia and Herzegovina if they successfully defeat Nordsjælland.

With several Swedish clubs competing across Europe’s major competitions, the upcoming qualifying rounds promise a crucial period for Swedish football on the continental stage.
