Aston Villa complete loan signing of Alejandro Garnacho from Chelsea
Aston Villa have confirmed the signing of Alejandro Garnacho from Chelsea, with the Argentina international joining on an initial season-long loan that includes a conditional obligation to make the move permanent next summer.
The deal was announced by both Premier League clubs on Thursday, adding another exciting attacking option to Unai Emery’s squad ahead of the new campaign.
Villa manager Unai Emery welcomed the arrival of the 22-year-old, praising both his talent and his desire to be part of the club’s long-term vision.
“We are delighted with Alejandro. He is so talented, young and he showed us his wish to help our project. We are really happy,” Emery said.
Fresh start after difficult Chelsea spell
Garnacho heads to Villa Park following a challenging campaign at Chelsea, where he found regular first-team opportunities difficult to come by after completing a reported £40 million move from Manchester United last summer.
Despite making 43 appearances across all competitions, the winger scored eight goals as he struggled to establish himself as a consistent starter.
Before his switch to Stamford Bridge, Garnacho spent five years at Old Trafford, where he developed into one of the club’s brightest young talents.
During his time with United, he scored 26 goals in 144 appearances, although he eventually fell out of favour under former head coach Ruben Amorim before securing his move to Chelsea.
Looking to revive his career
A graduate of Atletico Madrid’s academy, Garnacho remains one of Argentina’s most highly regarded young attackers.
The winger was named in Argentina’s 55-man preliminary squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, but narrowly missed out on a place in the final tournament squad.
Now, under the guidance of Emery, Garnacho will be hoping to rediscover his best form and make a major impact as Aston Villa prepare for another demanding Premier League campaign.
