San Giljan cruise past Valletta to maintain BOV Summer League momentum

San Giljan MAA Daikin produced another dominant display to defeat Valletta Peak Insurance Brokers 29-10 in their BOV Summer League Premier Division clash at the National Pool Complex on Wednesday evening.
The St Julians side took control from the opening whistle and never looked back, building a commanding first-half lead before extending their advantage after the break to complete a comprehensive 19-goal victory.
San Giljan made a blistering start, racing into a 9-2 lead by the end of the opening quarter thanks to clinical finishing and a solid defensive display. Valletta improved slightly in the second session but still found themselves trailing 16-6 at the interval.
The visitors continued to dictate proceedings after the restart, winning the third quarter 5-3 to stretch their advantage to 21-9 before adding another eight goals in the final period while conceding only once to seal an emphatic 29-10 triumph.
Russell Caruana and captain Matthew Zammit spearheaded the San Giljan attack with five goals each. Alec Fenech added four, while Nico Schiavone, Nikolai Zammit and Dean Bugeja all netted three times in an impressive all-round team performance.
For Valletta, Max Zammit was the standout performer with five goals. Mark Carani, Jacob Sciberras, Jake Colombo, Matthew Chircop and Niall Saliba each added one goal, but they were unable to prevent a heavy defeat.
The victory continues San Giljan’s strong run of form as they remain firmly in contention in the BOV Summer League standings.
