Cape Verde hero Vozinha agrees move to Chilean giants Colo Colo

Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha is set to continue his remarkable career after reaching an agreement to join Chilean giants Colo Colo, with club president Aníbal Mosa confirming the deal on Friday.

The 40-year-old free agent is expected to travel to Chile in the coming days to undergo a medical examination before completing the move and being officially unveiled at Estadio Monumental.

Speaking ahead of Colo Colo’s league clash with Deportes Limache, Mosa confirmed that the experienced goalkeeper is on the verge of becoming the club’s newest signing.

“Vozinha will be a Colo Colo player. In the coming days he will travel to Chile, undergo the usual medical examinations and then be presented here at the Estadio Monumental,” Mosa said.

Mosa also praised the veteran’s outstanding performances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, stating that his displays earned him the opportunity to join one of South America’s biggest clubs. He added that the transfer is also expected to generate significant commercial and marketing interest for Colo Colo.

Although the transfer has not yet been officially completed, Colo Colo fuelled speculation by posting a teaser on social media featuring what appeared to be Vozinha’s trademark curly hair, hinting that an announcement is imminent.

Vozinha became one of the breakout stars of the 2026 FIFA World Cup after leaving Portuguese second-tier club Chaves ahead of the tournament. The experienced shot-stopper was voted into FIFA’s Fan Dream Team following a series of outstanding displays that helped tournament debutants Cape Verde earn a memorable goalless draw against eventual champions Spain before pushing eventual runners-up Argentina into extra time in the Round of 32.

The veteran goalkeeper’s impressive World Cup campaign has now paved the way for a new challenge in Chile, where he looks set to begin the next chapter of his career with Colo Colo.
