Sirius stretched their lead at the top of the Allsvenskan table to 11 points after brushing aside Goteborg, while Brommapojkarna did the league leaders a huge favour by holding second-placed Hammarby to a dramatic draw.

Elsewhere, Malmo’s unbeaten run came to an end with a home defeat to Elfsborg, while Halmstad snatched a late point away to GAIS.

Sirius 4-1 Goteborg

League leaders Sirius continued their relentless march towards the title with a third straight victory, comfortably seeing off Goteborg to surpass the 40-goal mark for the season.

The visitors, meanwhile, slipped to a third defeat in four league matches and remain just three points above the relegation zone.

The hosts made the perfect start after just six minutes. Odera Samuel Adindu’s dangerous cross caused chaos inside the penalty area, and after Goteborg failed to clear their lines, Mohamed Soumah reacted quickest to fire into the bottom corner.

The lead was doubled midway through the first half when Isak Bjerkebo chased down a long ball on the left before squaring for Robbie Ure, who stretched to turn home at the near post. The goal took Ure’s impressive tally to 15 league goals this season.

Goteborg were handed a lifeline just before the break after Tobias Heintz fouled David Celic inside the area, allowing Sam Larsson to calmly convert from the penalty spot.

However, Sirius never looked in danger of surrendering control. With 20 minutes remaining, Bjerkebo teed up Marcus Lindberg, who drilled a superb strike into the bottom corner from 25 yards to restore the two-goal cushion.

The victory was wrapped up in the closing stages when Bjerkebo’s effort was parried into the path of August Lundberg, who reacted quickest to slot home the rebound and complete another emphatic afternoon for the league leaders.

Brommapojkarna 1-1 Hammarby

Hammarby missed the chance to keep pace with Sirius, as they were forced to settle for a draw against Brommapojkarna, bringing their three-match winning streak to an end.

The hosts also halted a run of two consecutive defeats thanks to a dramatic late equaliser.

The first half remained goalless, although Hammarby came agonisingly close on two occasions as both Victor Lind and Montader Madjed struck the woodwork.

After the restart, Leo Cavallius produced a string of impressive saves to frustrate the visitors before Hammarby finally broke through in the 79th minute. A loose pass gifted possession to Victor Lind, who still had plenty to do before cutting inside his defender and unleashing an unstoppable finish into the top corner.

It looked enough to secure all three points, but Brommapojkarna had the final say. Deep into stoppage time, Anton Kurochkin curled a free-kick into the box, where Andreas Troelsen rose unmarked at the back post to head beyond Warner Hahn and rescue a valuable point.

The result moves Brommapojkarna seven points clear of the relegation zone, while Hammarby remain second despite dropping crucial points in the title race.

Malmo 1-2 Elfsborg

Malmo suffered their first defeat under Gaute Helstrup, falling to a 2-1 home loss against Elfsborg, who ended a three-match losing run to climb into sixth place.

The visitors struck inside five minutes through Arber Zeneli, whose powerful effort from the edge of the area capped off an excellent team move.

Malmo responded midway through the first half as Noah John reached Sead Haksabanovic’s pass before delivering a pinpoint cross for Jens Stryger Larsen to head home the equaliser.

Parity lasted little more than 10 minutes. Zeneli turned provider this time, releasing Momoh Kamara, who showed great composure to slot past the goalkeeper and restore Elfsborg’s advantage.

The home side thought they had found another equaliser during the closing stages, but Diego Garcia’s header crashed against the crossbar. Moments later, Malte Palsson was shown a straight red card after bringing down Leo Ostman when through on goal, ending any hopes of a late comeback.

The victory was Elfsborg’s first since 8 May, while Malmo have now collected just one point from their last two league matches after previously winning three in a row.

GAIS 1-1 Halmstad

GAIS missed the opportunity to climb above Malmo in the standings after being held to a frustrating draw by Halmstad, who ended a four-match losing streak.

The hosts dominated much of the contest and finally broke the deadlock early in the second half when Robert Thorkelsson picked out Henry Sletsjoe, who guided a composed finish into the bottom corner.

Despite controlling large spells, GAIS failed to put the game beyond doubt and were made to pay deep into stoppage time.

William Milovanovic brought down Malte Persson inside the penalty area, giving the visitors a golden chance to snatch a point. Rocco Ascone made no mistake from the spot, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to earn Halmstad a valuable draw.

The result leaves GAIS without a win in two matches, while Halmstad move to within six points of safety.
