Two experienced Maltese Doping Control Officers, Tracy Farrugia and Brigitte Cauchi, are representing the Authority for Integrity in Maltese Sport (AiMS) at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The Games, being held from 24 July to 2 August, have brought together athletes from 74 Commonwealth nations and territories, with Farrugia and Cauchi forming part of the anti-doping workforce operating in collaboration with UK Anti-Doping (UKAD).

Both Maltese officers have been certified Doping Control Officers since 2012 and have more than a decade of experience in the implementation of anti-doping programmes in line with international standards.

Their selection for the Glasgow Games reflects the growing cooperation between AiMS and Commonwealth Sport, as well as the confidence being placed in Malta’s expertise in the field of anti-doping and sports integrity.

AiMS Chief Executive Officer Kevin Azzopardi said the appointments represented an important milestone for both the Authority and Malta’s anti-doping programme.

“Tracy and Brigitte have consistently demonstrated the highest levels of professionalism, integrity and competence over many years of service,” Azzopardi said.

“Their selection to work at the Commonwealth Games is a testament not only to their individual expertise but also to the credibility and international recognition that AiMS continues to build through its commitment to excellence and collaboration with international sporting organisations.”

The partnership between AiMS and Commonwealth Sport will continue beyond the Glasgow Games.

Farrugia and Cauchi have also been identified to serve as Lead Doping Control Officers at the 2027 Commonwealth Youth Games, which will be hosted in Malta and Gozo.

Their forthcoming leadership roles will provide further experience for Malta in delivering international anti-doping operations and support AiMS’ objective of establishing the country as a trusted partner in protecting the integrity of sport.

The appointments also highlight the growing role of Maltese expertise in international sporting events and the contribution being made by AiMS to the global anti-doping effort.
