PSG Hit Four Past Manchester City at the Etihad to End Their Winning Run

Paris Saint-Germain extended their unbeaten run in the UEFA Champions League to 12 matches with an impressive 4-2 victory over Manchester City, securing their first-ever win at the Etihad Stadium.
Manchester City entered the contest full of confidence after winning their opening six Premier League matches, appearing almost unstoppable. However, the reigning European champions quickly exposed their weaknesses and brought the hosts back down to earth.
PSG started aggressively and took the lead in spectacular fashion in the 13th minute. A superb passing move carried the ball from one end of the pitch to the other before Desire Doue finished off the flowing attack with a clinical strike from the edge of the penalty area.
Desire Doue played a key role in Paris Saint-Germain’s second goal, delivering a perfectly weighted ball to the far post for Ousmane Dembele, who was left unmarked to head home just two minutes later.
Manchester City were given an early warning that the contest could slip beyond their reach when Achraf Hakimi saw his header strike the base of the post. However, the hosts failed to respond to the warning as PSG continued to threaten.
The woodwork had barely stopped shaking when the visitors produced another superb attacking move. Warren Zaire-Emery cleverly flicked the ball into the path of Vitinha, who calmly swept it home from the
Manchester City could have found themselves four goals down by half-time, with Achraf Hakimi wasting a promising opportunity by shooting straight at Gianluigi Donnarumma. The hosts’ best chance to get back into the contest before the break fell to Josko Gvardiol, but his header from a corner drifted wide five minutes before half-time.
City responded by making three substitutions at the interval, and two of their key players, Antoine Semenyo and Enzo Fernandez, combined to create an excellent opportunity to cut the deficit. However, the Argentine midfielder failed to hit the target with a close-range header at the far post.
Iliman Ndiaye was among those introduced at half-time, and he made an immediate impact eight minutes after the restart. His cross was cleverly flicked into the net by Erling Haaland, who reached another milestone by becoming Manchester City’s all-time leading goalscorer in the UEFA Champions League.
Manchester City’s hopes of mounting a comeback quickly faded when a costly mistake from Gianluigi Donnarumma allowed PSG to restore their three-goal advantage. The goalkeeper failed to deal with Maghnes Akliouche’s effort, inadvertently punching the ball into the air before watching helplessly as it dropped over the goal line.
City continued to push forward in search of another goal, with Josko Gvardiol, Enzo Fernandez and Erling Haaland all threatening to reduce the deficit further. Haaland eventually found the net again, doubling his tally for the night by calmly finishing Ayyoub Bouaddi’s cutback.
PSG missed an opportunity to make the closing stages more comfortable when Ferran Torres failed to convert a penalty in the final five minutes. Nevertheless, the French champions held on to secure their fifth consecutive competitive victory while bringing Manchester City’s eight-match winning streak to an end.
