Dani Olmo ruled out of El Clásico after suffering thigh injury against PSG

Barcelona midfielder Dani Olmo is set to miss Sunday’s highly anticipated El Clásico against Real Madrid after being sidelined for approximately one month with a thigh injury, the Spanish champions confirmed on Wednesday.

In an official statement, FC Barcelona revealed that medical tests had confirmed an injury to Olmo’s left thigh, ruling the Spain international out of action for around four weeks.

The 28-year-old was forced off during Barcelona’s 4-2 Champions League defeat to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the French capital on Tuesday, dealing a significant blow to the club ahead of a crucial stretch of fixtures.

Olmo’s absence will be particularly felt in Sunday’s showdown with Real Madrid at Camp Nou, one of the biggest matches on Barcelona’s calendar. He is also expected to miss upcoming La Liga fixtures against Alavés and Atlético Madrid, as well as Barcelona’s Champions League clash with Aston Villa.

The injury could also prevent Olmo from joining Spain’s national team for their upcoming Nations League fixtures against the Czech Republic and England on November 12 and 15, respectively.

Since joining Barcelona from RB Leipzig in 2024, Olmo has made an impact with his technical ability and attacking versatility. However, recurring injury problems have disrupted his progress throughout his career, making this latest setback another frustrating chapter for the midfielder.

Barcelona will now hope Olmo can recover within the expected timeframe as the club prepares for a demanding run of domestic and European matches.
