Arsenal confirm signing of England and Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa

Arsenal have completed the signing of England international Ezri Konsa from Aston Villa, with the defender joining in a deal reportedly worth £51 million plus add-ons.
Konsa arrives at the Emirates Stadium after representing England at the 2026 World Cup and helping Aston Villa enjoy a successful campaign that culminated in Europa League glory.
The 28-year-old becomes Arsenal’s fifth signing of the summer, following the permanent arrival of Piero Hincapie and the additions of Illan Meslier, Christos Tzolis and Bruno Guimaraes.
Arsenal Praise Konsa’s Quality
Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta welcomed the defender to North London and highlighted his consistency and versatility.
“We’re delighted to have completed the signing of Ezri Konsa,” Berta said.
Berta also praised Konsa’s ability to operate in multiple defensive positions, something that could prove valuable for Mikel Arteta’s squad.
Konsa’s Rise to the Premier League
Konsa began his professional career with Charlton Athletic before earning a move to Championship side Brentford.
After an impressive campaign in West London, his performances attracted the attention of Aston Villa, who signed him in 2019.
Konsa went on to spend seven seasons at Villa Park, establishing himself as a key figure in the club’s defence and becoming a regular for the England national team.
His move to Arsenal now brings an end to his long spell with Villa and gives the defender the opportunity to compete for major domestic and European honours with the reigning Premier League champions.
