Aston Villa have reportedly reached an agreement with Chelsea to sign Nicolas Jackson in a deal that would make the striker the club’s record signing.

Jackson is among several players Chelsea are looking to offload before the summer transfer window closes on September 1.

The 25-year-old striker has been a long-standing target for Aston Villa manager Unai Emery, who remains a major admirer of Jackson after previously working with him at Villarreal.

According to The Athletic, the two clubs have now reached an agreement that would see Jackson become Aston Villa’s most expensive signing, marking a major investment in Emery’s squad.

Aston Villa are set to pay £47.5 million upfront for the Senegal international, with add-ons potentially taking the total value of the deal to £65 million. Personal terms are also understood to be close to being finalised.

Jackson’s potential transfer would be the third deal between Chelsea and Aston Villa this summer, highlighting the strong business relationship between the two clubs.

Villa previously saw Morgan Rogers move to Stamford Bridge in a club-record £117 million transfer, while Alejandro Garnacho subsequently joined Villa on a season-long loan that includes a conditional obligation to buy.

Jackson spent last season on loan at Bayern Munich, where he scored eight goals and registered two assists, primarily serving as a backup to Harry Kane.

Meanwhile, current Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins is reportedly pushing for a move to Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal, potentially paving the way for Jackson to become Villa’s new first-choice number nine.
