Benfica complete loan signing of former Aston Villa forward Jhon Durán

Benfica have officially completed the signing of Jhon Durán from Al Nassr on an initial loan deal that includes a conditional option to make the move permanent.
The 22-year-old Colombian striker has enjoyed a remarkable rise in recent years. After making his name in Major League Soccer (MLS), Durán earned a move to the Premier League with Aston Villa, where his performances attracted widespread attention before securing a high-profile transfer to Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr.
However, the forward’s spell in Saudi Arabia has not unfolded as expected. During the 2025-26 campaign, Durán spent time away from the club on loan, first joining Fenerbahçe before completing a second temporary move to Zenit St. Petersburg.
Benfica have now secured the Colombian international’s signature on a season-long loan from Al Nassr, with the agreement including a conditional obligation to buy if specific performance-related clauses are triggered. According to reports, the permanent transfer could be worth around €30 million (£25.5 million).
Speaking after completing his move, Durán expressed his excitement about beginning a new chapter in Lisbon.
“I came to the biggest club in Portugal,” the Colombian forward said in his first interview with Benfica’s official media channels.
