Finland’s Otso Liimatta Joins Swedish Leaders Sirius from Famalicao

Much of the transfer speculation surrounding Sirius has focused on players potentially leaving the club, but the Allsvenskan leaders are also working to strengthen their squad by bringing in 22-year-old Finnish midfielder Otso Liimatta from Portuguese side Famalicão.
Liimatta spent the 2025 season on loan at IFK Värnamo, where he made 13 appearances, before joining Halmstads on loan last season and featuring in 10 official matches.
The Finnish midfielder will now remain in the Allsvenskan, this time on a permanent transfer. The deal is reportedly set to keep Liimatta at Sirius until 2031.
Liimatta had one year remaining on his contract with Famalicão but reached an agreement with the Portuguese club to terminate his deal. He will subsequently sign for IK Sirius.
According to Swedish newspaper Expressen, only the medical examination remains before Liimatta can be officially announced as a Sirius player. The club currently sits at the top of the Allsvenskan standings.
The Finnish midfielder joined Famalicão during the 2023/24 season after moving from Veikkausliiga club AC Oulu, making 13 appearances in his first campaign with the Portuguese side. He featured just six times during the 2024/25 season before joining Värnamo on his first loan spell.
Liimatta is now set to join the Uppsala-based club, who hold a 14-point lead at the halfway stage of the season as they look to claim major silverware for the first time in their history.
