Linda Noskova heads into the US Open with more attention than ever after winning her first Grand Slam title at Wimbledon, but the Czech star insists her breakthrough triumph has not changed her mindset or given her additional confidence.

The sixth-seeded Noskova explained that she approaches every tournament as a fresh challenge, regardless of what happened at her previous event.

“No, for me, I always come to a tournament with a completely new kind of mental state, I guess,” Noskova told reporters on Friday.

“For me, it has always been very important to focus on each match like nothing ever happened before. No success or no failure.”

The 21-year-old produced a dramatic run at the All England Club, eventually defeating compatriot Karolina Muchova in the Wimbledon final after surviving the pressure of wasting five match points.

The victory made Noskova the third Czech woman to win the Wimbledon women’s singles title in the last four years, further highlighting the country’s growing success on the Grand Slam stage.

Despite already having a major title to her name, Noskova admitted that she is still adjusting to life as a Grand Slam champion. However, her Wimbledon success has also given her an important belief — that she is capable of doing it again.

“It’s still all brand new, so it’s very tough to get used to whatever comes in this way,” Noskova said.

“But I feel like I have learned mainly the fact that … it’s possible for me to do it, for me to make it till the very end, and just lift Grand Slam trophy.”

Noskova Enjoys New Experiences After Wimbledon

Her Wimbledon victory has brought a series of memorable experiences away from the tennis court as well.

Among them was a meeting with Czech President Petr Pavel, an occasion Noskova described as a huge moment.

“That was huge,” the smiling Czech star said. “I was so excited from the invite.”

Noskova also received an emotional welcome back in her hometown, where thousands of people gathered to celebrate her historic achievement.

“But also, the things that like my hometown welcomed me. 3,000 people came to one place. That was incredible to see just a bunch of people that actually watched the match.”

Tough US Open Draw Awaits

Noskova now turns her attention to the US Open, where she has been placed in the top half of the draw alongside defending champion Aryna Sabalenka and third seed Jessica Pegula.

The Czech sixth seed will begin her campaign against American Katie Volynets in the first round.

With the pressure of being a newly crowned Grand Slam champion and expectations higher than ever, Noskova will be hoping to carry the same composure that helped her achieve her breakthrough at Wimbledon.
