PSV Announce Signing of Sven Mijnans After ‘Patient’ Transfer Process

Eredivisie champions PSV have officially announced the signing of AZ midfielder Sven Mijnans.
The 26-year-old has agreed a five-year contract with the Eindhoven club, with reports claiming AZ will receive around €14 million for the attacking midfielder.
“This feels like the right next step in my career,” Mijnans said in a statement on PSV’s official website.
“PSV is a fantastic club with a clear ambition, excellent leadership and outstanding facilities. It is also a team that competes for trophies every season. You can feel the determination within the squad to fight for a fourth straight league title next season, and I’m excited to contribute to that goal.
“Playing in the Champions League has been a dream of mine since I was a child, and I’m really looking forward to experiencing it.”
Mijnans had previously been close to making the move to PSV in the summer of 2025, but AZ decided against allowing the transfer to happen at the time.
“We have been monitoring Sven for several years and have seen him continue to develop and improve every season,” PSV technical director Earnest Stewart said.
“He is an intelligent and versatile midfielder with impressive physical qualities. In addition, he regularly contributes with goals and assists. His mentality is also something we value highly. Sven is always looking to improve himself and has a strong personality. We believe he fits perfectly with our style of play and the ambitions we have at PSV.”
Mijnans joined AZ from Sparta Rotterdam in January 2023 for a reported fee of €1.5 million. During his three-and-a-half years with the Alkmaar side, the midfielder made 155 appearances in all competitions, scoring 42 goals and recording 27 assists.
