Raiders receive positive Ashton Jeanty injury news after scare

Raiders Optimistic Ashton Jeanty Won’t Miss Significant Time After Ankle Injury
The Las Vegas Raiders are optimistic that second-year running back Ashton Jeanty will not miss significant time after suffering a sprained ankle, according to reports.
Jeanty, 22, left Sunday’s practice after landing awkwardly while attempting to make a catch. The situation initially caused concern among his teammates, who took a knee around the running back as he received attention from trainers.
Jeanty was eventually helped from the field after struggling to put weight on his leg. Despite the concerning scene, the Raiders do not currently expect the injury to keep their young running back sidelined for an extended period.
Jeanty Expected to Play Major Role for Raiders
The No. 6 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, Jeanty is entering his second season with Las Vegas after an impressive rookie campaign.
The Jacksonville native finished his first NFL season with 1,321 total yards, including 975 rushing yards on 3.7 yards per carry. He also recorded 10 total touchdowns, five of which came on the ground.
With Jeanty expected to be a central part of the Raiders’ offense, avoiding a serious injury is important for Las Vegas as the team prepares for the upcoming season.
Raiders Have Depth Behind Jeanty
Should Jeanty miss any practice time while recovering, rookie Mike Washington Jr. is next in line on the Raiders’ running back depth chart.
Las Vegas also has Dylan Laube and veteran Dare Ogunbowale available to provide depth at the position if needed.
The Raiders will likely take a cautious approach with Jeanty during the preseason and training camp, with the priority being to ensure he is fully healthy before the regular season begins.
Las Vegas is scheduled to open its 2026 NFL season on September 13 against the Miami Dolphins. For now, the team will be hoping Jeanty can make a quick recovery and return to the field without further complications.
