Randal Kolo Muani: A risky move for Juventus?

Why signing Randal Kolo Muani could be a risk for Juventus
At 27, Randal Kolo Muani finds himself at a crucial stage of his career. Once regarded as one of France’s brightest attacking talents, the striker has struggled to establish himself consistently at club level despite high-profile moves across Europe.
Although he remains remembered for the heartbreaking missed chance in the 2022 FIFA World Cup Final, his performances for his clubs have done little to change the narrative surrounding his career.
A Disappointing Spell at Tottenham Hotspur
Kolo Muani spent the 2025/26 season on loan at Tottenham Hotspur, but his time in North London failed to live up to expectations. In 30 Premier League appearances, he managed just one goal and one assist, while adding another assist in the FA Cup.
His record in the UEFA Champions League was more encouraging, contributing four goals and two assists in nine matches, but it wasn’t enough to convince Spurs to make the move permanent.
PSG Ready to Cut Their Losses
Back at Paris Saint-Germain, Kolo Muani no longer appears to be part of Luis Enrique’s long-term plans. With PSG prepared to accept a significant financial loss on the player, reports suggest the French champions are willing to sanction another loan move that includes a permanent purchase obligation.
According to multiple reports, Juventus have agreed to a deal worth a €4 million loan fee with a €34 million obligation to buy. The French international is also expected to sign a five-year contract worth around €5.5 million per season.
Can He Replace Dusan Vlahovic?
If the transfer is completed, Kolo Muani is expected to replace Dusan Vlahovic in Juventus’ attack. However, based on his recent performances, the challenge will be far from straightforward.
Despite playing over 2,200 minutes in all competitions for Tottenham, his attacking numbers remained underwhelming. He finished the season with only 31 shots, of which just 10 were on target, explaining why his first Premier League goal didn’t arrive until February 2026.
While his 16.13% shot conversion rate was respectable, his overall lack of goal threat raised serious concerns about his effectiveness as a central striker.
The Statistics Raise Questions
The numbers paint an even more worrying picture. Kolo Muani recorded only a 40% shot accuracy, among the lowest in Tottenham’s squad. Although he frequently found himself in dangerous positions—registering 109 touches inside the opposition penalty area—he struggled to convert those opportunities into goals.
His passing statistics were equally disappointing. He completed only 288 of 417 passes, finishing with a 69.06% pass completion rate, one of the weakest among Spurs’ regular outfield players.
In one-on-one situations, he won just 37.13% of his duels, the lowest success rate among Tottenham’s regular starters. He also won only 40 of 102 aerial duels, while contributing very little defensively.
Why Juventus Still Believe
Despite his disappointing spell in England, Juventus have reasons to remain optimistic. During his previous loan spell in Turin, Kolo Muani showed flashes of the quality that once made him one of Europe’s most sought-after forwards, scoring eight goals in 16 Serie A matches, followed by two more goals in three FIFA Club World Cup appearances.
The Bianconeri will hope a return to Serie A allows the French striker to rediscover that form.
Final Verdict
For Juventus, signing Randal Kolo Muani is undoubtedly a gamble. His recent struggles with PSG and Tottenham Hotspur raise understandable concerns, while his statistics suggest a player searching for confidence and consistency.
However, football is often about finding the right environment. Juventus will hope that a familiar league and a fresh start can unlock the talent that once made Kolo Muani one of Europe’s most exciting forwards.
If not, this transfer could become another costly chapter in a career that has yet to fulfil its enormous potential.
