Rodri’s potential Real Madrid move could open new opportunity for Manchester United
Manchester United are closely monitoring Real Madrid’s pursuit of Manchester City midfielder Rodri, with any potential move to the Santiago Bernabéu possibly creating unexpected opportunities in the transfer market.
As previously reported by Flashscore, Rodri would be open to pushing for a move to Real Madrid should the Spanish giants make their long-standing interest official.
The Spain international is expected to undergo minor surgery, but the procedure is not believed to have changed Madrid’s plans, with growing confidence that the European champions could eventually move forward with a formal offer.
Should Rodri complete a high-profile transfer away from Manchester City, sources at Manchester United believe the move could have a significant impact on Real Madrid’s midfield structure.
The Red Devils remain interested in adding another central midfielder and would closely monitor the situations of Eduardo Camavinga and Aurélien Tchouaméni, should either player become available following any potential reshuffle at Madrid.
Both midfielders have previously attracted interest from United’s recruitment department, although neither has been viewed as a realistic target in past windows.
There remains considerable doubt within Old Trafford over whether Real Madrid would consider allowing Tchouaméni to leave, with the Frenchman still regarded as an important part of their future plans. However, Camavinga could represent a more interesting possibility if Madrid decide to adjust their midfield options.
United plan to keep a close eye on developments before deciding whether a genuine opportunity exists to make a move.
If Rodri’s transfer to Madrid fails to materialise and he remains at Manchester City, United will continue exploring alternative midfield targets.
Among the players linked with a move to Old Trafford are Carlos Baleba and Alex Scott, while Lille teenager Ayyoub Bouaddi also remains on United’s radar. The 18-year-old is considered one of Europe’s brightest young midfield prospects.
However, Manchester City are also believed to be interested in signing Bouaddi, although United could potentially strengthen their position in the race if Rodri stays at the Etihad Stadium and City’s transfer plans change.
United have already strengthened their midfield options this summer with the arrivals of Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos, but further additions remain dependent on how the wider transfer market develops.
With Real Madrid’s pursuit of Rodri continuing to be closely watched, the outcome could influence several major midfield moves across Europe.
