Saying goodbye to a club that feels like home is never easy, and for one of Mġarr United’s most dedicated figures, Brenda Borg, closing a 15-year chapter is an incredibly emotional milestone.

In a heartfelt and moving farewell message, Borg expressed the profound grief of moving on from a club that defined half of her life.

“More Than Just Football”

The journey began in the second division at the tender age of fourteen. Even as a teenager stepping onto the pitch for Mġarr, it was clear that this partnership would transcend the boundaries of sport.

“I already knew then that this was going to be a story of so much more than football,” Borg shared. “And for 15 years, it was.”

While her long career with Mġarr was not defined by a massive haul of trophies, the legacy left behind is immeasurably richer. She departs with a deep sense of fulfillment and pride, secure in the knowledge that every ounce of energy and passion was left out on the pitch.

Leaving with Nothing But Gratitude

The decision to walk away comes with an incredibly heavy heart, but it is accompanied by immense love and gratitude for the club, the fans, and the community that supported the journey from day one.

“I close this chapter. I leave with nothing but gratitude and love, knowing I poured every last drop of my heart and soul into this club, and that I would do it all again without a second thought,” Borg wrote in a poignant final thank you. “Thank you, Mġarr. I gave you everything.”
