The spotlight will fall on Joseph Tabone of Għaxaq and Owen Bezzina of St Peter’s Żabbar on Friday evening as the two players face each other in the final of the Individual Knock-Out bocci competition.

The eagerly anticipated encounter will see the experienced Tabone attempting to add another prestigious honour to his impressive collection, while Bezzina will be seeking his maiden title in the competition.

Tabone enters the final with an outstanding record, having reached the decisive match for the fifth consecutive time. He has already won the Individual Knock-Out championship on four occasions, in 2015, 2022, 2023 and 2024.

Victory on Friday would see Tabone draw level with Michael Casha’s record of five titles, providing an additional incentive for the Għaxaq player as he looks to further establish himself among the competition’s most successful performers.

However, he faces a determined opponent in Bezzina, who will be making his first appearance in an Individual Knock-Out final.

The St Peter’s Żabbar player will be hoping to make the most of the opportunity and secure a prestigious addition to his list of achievements.

With Tabone’s experience and impressive record coming up against Bezzina’s ambition to claim his first title, the final promises to provide an intriguing contest for local bocci enthusiasts.

Meanwhile, the semi-finals of the 2×2 Knock-Out competition have also reached a crucial stage, with two Għaxaq pairings establishing commanding advantages following the opening legs.

Tal-Grazzja of Għaxaq produced a convincing performance to defeat their namesakes from St Peter’s Żabbar 21-9, putting themselves in a strong position to reach the final.

In the other semi-final, Come Back of Għaxaq were equally impressive as they registered a comfortable 21-10 victory over Ramel of San Ġwann.

Both Għaxaq pairings will now be looking to protect their substantial first-leg advantages when the return encounters take place.

The second legs are scheduled for November 2 and 3, when the two finalists of the 2×2 Knock-Out competition will be determined.
