Żurrieq Bocci Club hand Għaxaq their first defeat
Żurrieq Bocci Club inflicted the first defeat of the season on First Division leaders Għaxaq Bocci Club, beating them 21-19.
Għaxaq had been on an impressive run of 11 consecutive victories, but yesterday they came up against a determined Żurrieq side that delivered a highly accurate performance, consistently scoring valuable points on their way to a well-deserved victory.
Msida and St Peter’s Żabbar took advantage of Għaxaq’s slip-up and moved to within two points of the league leaders after recording convincing wins.
Msida defeated Żebbuġ 21-3, while St Peter’s Żabbar cruised to a 21-0 victory over Lija.
In the other matches, Qormi San Bastjan dominated Buġibba to win 21-1, while San Ġwann proved too strong for Santa Venera, claiming a 21-10 victory.
