Lee Kang-In completes Atletico Madrid move from PSG on long-term deal

South Korea midfielder Lee Kang-In has officially joined Atletico Madrid on a contract that will keep him at the club until June 2031, following his departure from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), the LaLiga club confirmed on Saturday.

The 25-year-old attacking midfielder arrives in Madrid in a deal reportedly worth up to €40 million, marking a major addition to Atletico’s squad ahead of the upcoming seasons.

Lee returns to Spanish football after spending three successful years with PSG, where he made 124 appearances, scoring 16 goals and providing 16 assists across all competitions.

Atletico de Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain have reached an agreement for the transfer of Lee Kang-In, who has signed for our club until June 30, 2031,” the Spanish club announced in an official statement.

Described by Atletico as a “talented left-footed midfielder,” Lee is capable of playing as an attacking midfielder or on either wing. The club highlighted his vision, exceptional ball control, creativity, passing ability and shooting skills as key strengths that will add a new dimension to their attacking options.

The move also represents a return to Spain for Lee, who previously played for Valencia CF and RCD Mallorca before joining PSG in 2023.

During his time in Paris, Lee enjoyed a trophy-filled spell, winning the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, Intercontinental Cup, Ligue 1 titles, French Cup, and French Super Cup honours.

At international level, Lee has been a key figure for South Korea, making his senior debut in 2019 and earning 50 caps for his country. He represented the South Korea national team at the 2022 FIFA World Cup and the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

With his creativity, technical ability and growing experience at the highest level, Lee Kang-In’s arrival at Atletico Madrid is expected to strengthen the club’s attacking options as they continue competing among Europe’s elite.
