After a dramatic finish to the first leg, Drita and Floriana will meet once again with everything still to play for as they battle for a place in the next round of the UEFA Conference League.

The opening encounter ended in a pulsating 1-1 draw, with both goals arriving deep into stoppage time. Liridon Balaj gave Drita the lead in the 94th minute before Amar Drina rescued Floriana with a dramatic equaliser five minutes later, ensuring the tie remains perfectly poised.

The statistics reflected just how evenly contested the first leg was. Floriana dominated possession with 59 per cent of the ball and produced 84 dangerous attacks, while Drita were more clinical in front of goal, registering 13 shots to Floriana’s 10 and doubling their opponents’ efforts on target by six to three. Corners were also closely matched, with Drita holding a narrow 4-3 advantage.

Floriana’s ability to dictate possession was evident throughout, but Drita consistently threatened on the counter-attack, creating the clearer opportunities despite seeing less of the ball.

Drita head into the second leg on the back of a difficult run of form. They are without a victory in their last six matches across all competitions, recording two draws and four defeats. During that spell they have averaged just eight shots and 2.83 efforts on target per match while enjoying only 39 per cent possession, underlining their reliance on quick transitions rather than sustained spells of pressure.

However, their home record offers genuine encouragement. Drita have won 65 per cent of their last 40 home matches in all competitions, conceding an average of just 0.85 goals per game while recording 3.38 shots on target per match. They have also kept nine clean sheets in their last 20 home fixtures.

Their recent European home record is less convincing. In the UEFA Conference League they have failed to win five of their last six home matches and have lost half of their previous eight games in the competition. Nevertheless, they have still managed clean sheets in 42 per cent of their last 12 European home fixtures.

More recent performances at home suggest they remain capable of causing problems. Across their last three home matches in all competitions, Drita have averaged 8.67 shots, 3.33 on target and 47 per cent possession, figures that mirror the threat they carried in the first leg.

Floriana, meanwhile, travel to Kosovo in encouraging form. They have won 58 per cent of their last 12 matches in all competitions and have suffered defeat only four times in their last 30 outings.

Their away record is particularly impressive. Floriana have won 10 of their last 15 away matches in all competitions, conceding just 0.73 goals per game while remaining unbeaten in 11 of their last 12 on the road. They have also kept 10 clean sheets in their last 20 away fixtures, highlighting their defensive resilience.

The Greens have built a reputation for managing matches intelligently, remaining disciplined without the ball before striking when opportunities arise. That measured approach was evident in the first leg, where they controlled possession without allowing Drita to dominate proceedings.

Tactically, the blueprint for the return fixture is already clear. Floriana are expected to enjoy more of the ball once again, patiently building attacks through midfield, while Drita will look to remain compact before breaking quickly whenever possession is regained.

If the Kosovan champions can reproduce the six shots on target they managed in Malta, they will believe they have every chance of progressing. Equally, Floriana’s organisation and ability to control the tempo could once again frustrate the hosts.

Drita will also have to cope without long-term absentees Juan Camilo Mesa and Ilir Mustafa, whose absence reduces both their defensive depth and aerial presence. Set-pieces may therefore prove particularly significant after a closely contested first leg that featured only a one-corner difference between the two sides.

With both teams boasting strengths that counterbalance one another, another closely fought encounter appears the most likely outcome. Floriana’s impressive away form and consistency are matched by Drita’s formidable long-term home record, making it difficult to separate the sides.

Another draw looks the most probable result. Floriana’s excellent away record, which has seen them remain unbeaten in 11 of their last 12 away matches and avoid defeat in 26 of their last 30 games overall, should offset Drita’s impressive 65 per cent home win rate across their last 40 matches. Expect another tense, evenly matched contest that could require extra time or penalties to determine who progresses.
