Real Madrid in talks with RB Leipzig over Yan Diomande transfer

Real Madrid have opened talks with RB Leipzig over the potential signing of highly-rated winger Yan Diomande, a source at the German club has confirmed.

While negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing, the source dismissed reports suggesting that a deal has already been agreed.

The 19-year-old Ivory Coast international is under contract with Leipzig until 2030 but has quickly established himself as one of Europe’s brightest young talents following an outstanding breakthrough campaign.

Europe’s Elite Chasing Diomande

Diomande’s reputation soared after impressing for Ivory Coast at the FIFA World Cup, attracting interest from several of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Earlier this summer, Paris Saint-Germain were strongly linked with the teenager, with sources indicating the Champions League winners explored a move before eventually cooling their interest amid concerns over the size of the transfer fee.

Liverpool also pursued the winger but reportedly saw an offer rejected by RB Leipzig in June.

RB Leipzig Reluctant to Sell

Leipzig have consistently insisted they are under no pressure to part ways with one of their prized assets.

Back in April, supervisory board chairman Oliver Mintzlaff stated that Diomande would not be sold “regardless of the asking price.”

However, German outlet Bild reported this week that the Bundesliga club could demand more than €120 million for the highly sought-after forward.

Rapid Rise to Stardom

Born in Abidjan, Diomande spent several months with Leganés during the 2025 season, making his La Liga debut against Real Madrid before earning a move to RB Leipzig ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

The winger enjoyed a sensational first season in Germany, scoring 12 Bundesliga goals while providing eight assists to establish himself as one of Europe’s most exciting attacking prospects.

With Real Madrid now stepping up their pursuit, the race for Diomande’s signature could become one of the biggest transfer stories of the summer.
