Ajax determined to keep Mika Godts despite PSG interest, says Jordi Cruyff

Ajax technical director Jordi Cruyff has made it clear the club has no intention of selling rising star Mika Godts this summer, despite growing interest from Paris Saint-Germain.

Reports emerged on Friday that PSG are stepping up their pursuit of the Belgian winger after he was seen in Porto alongside the French club’s sporting advisor Luis Campos. The reigning UEFA Champions League winners are believed to be close to agreeing personal terms with the 21-year-old, while Ajax are reportedly valuing the player at around €60 million.

Cruyff Wants Godts to Stay

Speaking to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, Cruyff stressed that Ajax’s priority is to keep one of their brightest talents in Amsterdam for at least another season.

“Ajax want to keep Mika in Amsterdam for at least another year.”

The club views Godts as a key part of its plans for the upcoming campaign and is reluctant to part with one of its standout performers.

Godts Enjoyed Outstanding Eredivisie Campaign

Godts was one of the Eredivisie’s top performers last season, finishing with an impressive 17 goals and 13 assists in 34 league appearances.

Despite his excellent individual form, Ajax endured a disappointing domestic campaign, finishing fifth with 56 points—matching the club’s lowest points tally since 1963—and only securing a place in the UEFA Conference League qualifiers through the Dutch play-offs.

Cruyff praised not only the winger’s performances but also his professionalism behind the scenes.

“We’re incredibly pleased with Mika, not only because of his statistics but also because of his commitment, attitude and desire to improve every day. We really can’t do without him this season.”

The Ajax director admitted that every player eventually moves on but insisted any future transfer must happen under the right conditions.

“Players will leave eventually, but it has to be at the right time and for the right price because we want to compete for trophies.”

No Official Offer Yet

Although speculation surrounding a potential move continues to grow, Cruyff revealed that Ajax have yet to receive an official bid for Godts.

“I won’t discuss transfer figures,” he said.

“As things stand, no club has submitted an offer for Mika.”

Busy Summer for Ajax

While fighting to retain Godts, Ajax have been one of Europe’s busiest clubs in the transfer market.

The Dutch giants have already strengthened their squad with the arrivals of Daley Blind, Caio Henrique, Marcos Leonardo, Tolu Arokodare, and Julian Brandt, while Marc-André ter Stegen is also expected to complete his move from Barcelona in the coming days.

Despite the influx of new signings, keeping Mika Godts remains one of Ajax’s biggest priorities as they look to return to challenging for major honours next season.
