FC Midtjylland have received a major boost with the news that injured teenager Mikel Gogorza could return to first-team action as early as September, despite recent concerns that he could face a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Earlier this month, Midtjylland coach Mike Tullberg revealed that the 19-year-old was expected to be absent “indefinitely” after struggling with persistent hip and groin problems.

However, sources close to the situation have told Flashscore that Gogorza’s injuries were reportedly misdiagnosed and incorrectly treated over an extended period.

That situation has now changed, with the Danish Under-19 international reportedly ‘on the verge of playing again’ and potentially set for a much earlier return than initially expected.

Gogorza has already made a significant impact despite his young age, recording 67 appearances for Midtjylland since breaking into the first team in 2024. He has scored nine goals and provided a further 11 assists during that time.

The teenager is contracted to Midtjylland until 2029, but has not played in a competitive fixture since May.

Midtjylland have made an unbeaten start to the new league campaign, collecting seven points from their opening three matches.

The Danish club are also closing in on another European campaign. They face Rijeka over two legs in the play-off round, with a place in the Conference League league phase at stake.

With the competition getting underway in September, Gogorza’s potential return could provide a timely boost to Midtjylland as they look to balance their domestic and European commitments.
