Eredivisie club Ajax are reportedly close to completing the signing of Brazilian left-back Caio Henrique from AS Monaco.

The Amsterdam side are undergoing a major rebuild, with technical director Jordi Cruyff reportedly placing 21 players on the transfer list via the TransferRoom platform and aiming to bring in as many as 15 new additions to the first-team squad.

According to reports from sources including De Telegraaf and Foot Mercato journalists Santi Aouna and Sebastien Denis, Ajax and Monaco have reached an agreement for Henrique’s transfer, with the player keen on making the move to Amsterdam. Only final contractual details remain before the deal is officially completed.

Ajax are expected to pay around €9 million for the defender, with performance-related bonuses potentially taking the total fee up to €9.5 million.

Caio Henrique, 28, joined Monaco in 2020 after leaving Atletico Madrid, where he made just one senior appearance for the Spanish club. Since arriving in France, the Brazilian has featured 211 times for Monaco, contributing 39 assists and scoring three goals.

The five-time Brazil international missed the final two months of the 2025-26 campaign with Monaco due to a hamstring injury. Henrique had previously made a strong start to the 2023-24 season, registering four assists in his opening six matches before suffering an ACL injury.
