Birżebbuġa and Sirens secure victories on Match Day 11


Birżebbuġa and Sirens Build Fitness emerged victorious in Tuesday’s BOV Summer League fixtures, overcoming Ta’ Xbiex Amigos and Exiles Welbees respectively in two entertaining encounters.
Birżebbuġa pull away late against Ta’ Xbiex
Birżebbuġa produced a strong final-quarter display to defeat Ta’ Xbiex Amigos 22-17 in their First Division clash.
The match remained finely balanced for much of the contest, with Birżebbuġa edging the first quarter 5-4 before Ta’ Xbiex responded by taking the second period 4-3, leaving the teams level at 8-8 at half-time.
Birżebbuġa regained the initiative in the third quarter, winning it 6-5 to take a narrow 14-13 lead into the final eight minutes.
The decisive moment came in the last quarter, where Birżebbuġa’s attacking quality proved too much for Ta’ Xbiex as they outscored their opponents 8-4 to seal a five-goal victory.
Marko Radulović was the standout performer, finishing as the match’s top scorer with eight goals. Nicholas Bugelli, Miguel Cassar and Jake Ciantar each added three goals, while Rhys Bugelli contributed two.
For Ta’ Xbiex, Shailon Cutajar, Sebastian Van Wyk and Roko Pelicari each scored three goals, with Raoul Greco and Russell Spiteri adding two apiece.
Sirens dominate Exiles
In the Premier Division, Sirens Build Fitness delivered a commanding performance to beat Exiles Welbees 18-11.
Sirens laid the foundations for victory with a dominant opening quarter, racing into a 5-0 lead and never relinquishing control of the match.
Exiles attempted to respond in the second quarter, but Sirens maintained their advantage and went into the break leading 10-4. They continued to dictate proceedings in the third period, extending their lead to 16-7 before Exiles narrowed the gap slightly in the final quarter.
Daniel Angyal led the Sirens scoring charts with four goals, while Gabriel Pace added three. Isiah Riolo, Zach Mizzi and Matthew Mifsud each scored two goals.
For Exiles, Konstantin Averka was their top scorer with three goals, while Francesco Sciardino, Mark Fenech and Keith Tanti each scored twice.
