The 2026 National Time Trial Championships, organised by the Malta Cycling Federation, were held on Sunday, 28 June 2026, on the Coast Road circuit at Salini. All competitors completed five laps of the course, covering a total distance of 30 kilometres.

In the Elite Men’s category, Andrea Mifsud of Team Polti Visit Malta claimed his first National Time Trial title with an outstanding performance, crossing the finish line in 38:02.88. Mifsud’s victory comes just weeks after making history as the first Maltese cyclist to compete in the Giro d’Italia.

Three-time defending National Time Trial Champion Aidan Buttigieg, also representing Team Polti Visit Malta, finished second, 36.09 seconds behind Mifsud. John Camilleri of Bike it Up Racing completed the podium in third place with a time of 40:09.23.

In the Elite Women’s category, Marie Claire Aquilina of Team Greens secured her eighth National Time Trial title, finishing in 49:20.77. She was followed by fellow Team Greens riders Michelle Vella Wood, who finished second in 51:26.51, and Katinka Zahra Lehtonen, who placed third in 1:07:21.33.

In the Masters 40+ category, Etienne Bonello of Team Greens was crowned National Champion after recording a winning time of 43:53.98. He was followed by teammate Arek Kawalec in second place with 44:35.49, while Liran Ben Ari of The Cyclists by Agones finished third in 45:07.28.

The Masters 50+ National Championship was won by Adrian Bezzina of The Cyclists by Agones, who completed the course in 46:58.48. Former National Champion David Cushing of Bike it Up Racing finished second in 50:40.25.

In the Junior category, Andrei Cassone of The Cyclists by Agones claimed the National Championship title with a winning time of 44:39.92. Ryan Gatt, also representing The Cyclists by Agones, finished second in 48:46.48.

The National Youth Time Trial Championships were held on Sunday, 17 May 2026, in Xewkija, Gozo, as part of an event organised by D Sports Lab.

In the Under-16 Boys category, Harry Carmont of Mosta Cycling Club claimed the National Championship after completing the 17.5km course in 27:40.38. Neil Cassar of Team Greens finished second in 28:49.62, while Liam Daly of Shamrock Stars secured third place in 29:09.63.

In the Under-16 Girls category, Nina Curmi of D Sports Lab was crowned National Champion with a time of 34:54.51, ahead of Katie-Anne Vella Wood of Team Greens, who finished second in 35:00.12.

In the Under-14 Boys category, Ethan Cumbo of Team Greens claimed the National Championship after completing the 12.5km course in 21:00.82. Kurt Grech of Mosta Cycling Club finished second in 29:04.76, while Ayden Vella of D Sports Lab placed third in 32:36.06. In the Under-14 Girls category, Mickaya Fava of Shamrock Stars won the National Championship with a time of 26:54.76.

Mosta Cycling Club dominated the Under-12 Boys category, sweeping the podium. Raphael Buhagiar was crowned National Champion after completing the 7.5km course in 14:45.20. Zachary Vella finished second in 14:47.75, while Nolan Tabone secured third place in 15:01.44.

The championships concluded with the presentation of awards by Malta Cycling Federation officials John Zammit, Joe Bajada and Daniel Borg Olivier, respectively President, General Secretary and Treasurer of the Federation.
