Arsenal youngster Ethan Nwaneri is close to completing a season-long loan move to Borussia Dortmund, with the teenager travelling to Germany to finalise the transfer. Recent reports confirm that the two clubs have reached an agreement over the temporary move.

The 19-year-old is expected to undergo a medical before completing the switch. Dortmund have agreed to take Nwaneri on a straight loan, with no option to make the move permanent.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta and the club believe a temporary departure will give Nwaneri the opportunity to play more regularly and continue his development. Competition for places in Arsenal’s attacking and midfield areas has made consistent first-team opportunities difficult to secure.

Nwaneri made six Premier League appearances for Arsenal last season before spending part of the campaign on loan at Marseille. The previous season proved more productive for the youngster, as he featured 26 times in the Premier League, scoring four goals and providing two assists.

The move to Dortmund will give Nwaneri another opportunity to gain valuable experience at senior level, with the Bundesliga club known for providing young players with regular first-team football.

The English winger will spend the upcoming season at Signal Iduna Park, where he will continue his development under Borussia Dortmund head coach Niko Kovac.
