The Futsal Malta Association recently concluded an Extraordinary General Meeting alongside its Annual General Meeting, where member clubs discussed and approved several key amendments to the association’s statute.

The approved amendments, which were proposed by the association, are designed to strengthen the entity’s governance framework. They ensure stricter compliance with the regulations of the Malta Football Association (MFA) and align the body with the guidelines and requirements set forth by the Authority for Integrity in Maltese Sport (AIMS).

During the proceedings, members reviewed the administrative report, which detailed the association’s activities, development projects, and milestones over the past year. The accompanying financial report was also presented, confirming another successful financial year for the organization.

The meetings marked the conclusion of Perit Mark Borg’s tenure as President. In his final address, Borg thanked the community for their support and highlighted several major milestones achieved under his leadership. These achievements included launching the women’s futsal league, introducing Video Support technology for match officials, and taking the initial steps toward securing new premises in collaboration with the MFA and the Central Government.

A new Executive Committee was appointed to lead the association for the 2026–2029 term, structured as follows:

• President: Nathaniel Jones
• Vice President (Operations): George Frendo
• Vice President (Branding & Marketing): Kurt Bonnici
• Secretary General: Andy Mangion
• Treasurer: Clayton Scicluna

In his maiden address, incoming President Nathaniel Jones expressed his gratitude to the clubs for their trust and welcomed the newly elected committee members. Jones also extended special thanks to outgoing committee members Perit Mark Borg, Kurt Rizzo, Matthew Borg, Stefan Cutajar, and Anthony Azzopardi, acknowledging their valuable contributions to the sport and wishing them success in their future endeavors.

With a modernized statute and a newly formed executive team, the Futsal Malta Association enters its next chapter focused on building upon its recent domestic progress and further developing the sport both locally and internationally.
