Ghana Midfielder Fatawu Ganiwu set to join Dynamo Kyiv on three-year deal

Ghanaian midfielder Fatawu Ganiwu is set to join Ukrainian giants Dynamo Kyiv on a three-year contract, Flashscore sources understand.
Ganiwu will make the move to the 16-time Ukrainian Premier League champions from Ghanaian Division Three side AS Koppan, the Accra-based development club where he has spent much of his young career.
The 18-year-old has already attracted interest from several high-profile European clubs, having previously trialled with English Premier League sides Chelsea, Bournemouth and Brentford, as well as Austrian giants RB Salzburg.
His spell with Chelsea was particularly notable. Ganiwu spent a month training at Cobham with both the Blues’ Under-18 and Under-21 teams, featuring in youth fixtures against Manchester United and Sheffield United.
Dynamo Kyiv ultimately won the race for his signature after beating off competition from a number of clubs. Ganiwu has completed his medical and signed his contract with the Ukrainian giants.
The midfielder has also gained senior experience in Ghana and France. He joined Legon Cities on loan in September 2024, giving him his first taste of the Ghana Premier League, before subsequently moving to French side US Avranches, also on loan.
On the international stage, Ganiwu has represented Ghana at several youth levels. He first made a name for himself at the UEFA Youth Championship in Serbia with the Ghana U-16 side, playing a key role as the Black Starlets stunned Serbia, Spain and Switzerland to lift the trophy.
He later progressed to the Ghana U-17 setup and was part of Maxwell Konadu’s Black Satellites squad at this summer’s WAFU B U-20 Championship in Côte d’Ivoire.
His move to Dynamo Kyiv represents the next major step in his development. The Ukrainian club are competing in the UEFA Champions League qualifying rounds this season, and Ganiwu is expected to be given time to adapt to the demands of the first-team environment as he continues his development in Europe.
