Hamrun Spartans FC have announced the appointment of experienced Italian coach Stefano Sanderra as the club’s new Head Coach ahead of the upcoming season.

Sanderra arrives at the reigning Maltese champions with an impressive coaching résumé spanning more than 30 years, having built a reputation for leading ambitious teams in both Italian and Maltese football.

The appointment marks the beginning of a new chapter for the Spartans as they prepare to compete for domestic honours while also embarking on another European campaign.

A Wealth of Experience

Throughout his managerial career, Sanderra has coached across the Italian professional leagues, gaining extensive experience at various levels of the game. His coaching journey has also included a successful spell in Malta, where he left a lasting impression in the Premier League.

His achievements on the island were recognised with the prestigious Malta FA Coach of the Year award on two occasions, underlining his ability to consistently deliver success and develop competitive teams.

Recent Success in Italy

Most recently, Sanderra returned to his homeland to take charge of Lazio’s Primavera side, where he enjoyed an outstanding campaign.

Under his leadership, the young Biancocelesti secured promotion back to Primavera 1, Italy’s top youth division, while also lifting the Primavera 2 Supercoppa. The achievements further enhanced Sanderra’s reputation as a coach capable of nurturing talent and building winning teams.

His success with one of Italy’s most respected youth academies adds further pedigree to Hamrun Spartans’ coaching setup as the club looks to build on its recent achievements.
