Harry Kane has confirmed that talks are underway over a new contract with Bayern Munich, with the England captain considering extending his stay at the German champions beyond 2027.

Speaking to reporters after Bayern Munich’s 5-1 victory over Stuttgart in their Bundesliga season opener, Kane revealed that the first discussions regarding a potential extension had already taken place.

“The first meeting started last week,” Kane said.

The 33-year-old striker is also among the leading contenders for the Ballon d’Or, which is set to be presented in his hometown of London in August.

Kane Open to Staying at Bayern

Kane admitted there are still plenty of details to negotiate but made it clear that he would like to continue his career with Bayern Munich, whom he joined in 2023 after leaving his boyhood club Tottenham Hotspur.

“I’m 33. It’s probably going to be, not my last contract. But it’s a big contract for me to sign,” Kane said.

The England captain stressed that both sides need to be satisfied with the terms before an agreement can be reached.

“They need to make sure I’m happy. They obviously need to make sure they’re happy… There’s no panic from either side.”

“I’m sure we’ll get to a point where both sides are happy.”

Bayern have previously made it clear that they want to keep their prolific striker beyond his current contract, which is due to expire at the end of the 2026-27 season.

Kane Continues to Deliver at Bayern

Since arriving in Germany, Kane has established himself as one of the Bundesliga’s most prolific forwards.

Last season, he scored 36 goals in 31 Bundesliga appearances, the third-highest tally recorded in a single German top-flight campaign. He also helped Bayern secure both the Bundesliga title and the German Cup, completing a domestic double.

Across club and country, Kane finished the campaign with an extraordinary 73 goals, including six at the World Cup, where England reached the semi-finals.

With his current deal still running until 2027, Kane now appears open to committing even longer to Bayern as negotiations continue over a potential new contract.
