Fifteen-year-old Gozo triathlete Liam Daly has made an immediate, thunderous impact on the international stage. Officially debuting for Malta, his stellar performances have already been formally recognized on his official World Triathlon profile.

In a whirlwind month of June, Daly donned the Maltese colors for the first time and secured two spectacular podium finishes across two different continents.

Africa Cup Bronze & European Sprint Gold

Daly’s international journey began in Yasmine Hammamet, Tunisia, where he put on a gritty performance to capture the bronze medal at the Africa Triathlon Junior Cup.

Remarkably, just one week later, the young athlete reached an even higher peak in Tarragona, Spain. Competing in the Sprint Triathlon, Daly outperformed the field to be crowned the European Champion in the 16–19 age category.

Overcoming the Age Gap to Make History

What makes Daly’s achievements truly historic is the age deficit he overcame. At just 15 years old, he was routinely racing against athletes up to three years older than him.
