Reigning Formula 1 world champion Lando Norris has committed his future to McLaren, signing a contract extension that will keep him with the team through at least 2030.

The announcement comes just days after Norris claimed back-to-back victories with a win at the Dutch Grand Prix, boosting his hopes of successfully defending his F1 world title.

McLaren confirmed on Saturday that the new agreement includes an option for a further multi-year extension beyond 2030, underlining the team’s long-term commitment to the 26-year-old driver.

Norris enjoyed a breakthrough 2025 season, securing McLaren’s first Drivers’ Championship since Lewis Hamilton’s title triumph in 2008.

The Briton joined McLaren’s junior programme at the age of 17 before making his Formula 1 debut with the team two years later in 2019.

“McLaren is my home, and I’m very pleased to be signing a new contract to keep me with the team until at least 2030,” Norris said in a statement released by the team.

“When I started this journey nine years ago, I was clear about the goals I wanted to achieve: to get McLaren back to the front and to win championships.”

Norris has already delivered on that ambition by helping return McLaren to the top of the sport, but he believes there is still much more to accomplish.

“We’ve achieved that goal, but we want more; we want to keep on winning, and we know as a team that we’re capable of achieving it.”

Norris Eyes Another Championship

Despite his recent success, Norris currently sits fourth in the 2026 F1 Drivers’ Championship, 83 points behind Mercedes youngster Kimi Antonelli, with 11 races remaining on the calendar.

The long-term extension gives Norris the opportunity to continue building his career at McLaren as the team looks to remain at the front of the Formula 1 grid.

With his future secured through 2030 and an option for an even longer stay, Norris will now turn his attention back to the championship battle as he attempts to close the gap to his rivals and add another world title to his collection.
