Manchester United have completed the signing of Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba in a deal reportedly worth £70 million.

The Cameroon international will move to Old Trafford for an initial £65 million, with a further £5 million available in performance-related add-ons.

Baleba has agreed to a five-year contract with Manchester United, becoming the latest addition to their midfield. He joins fellow summer arrivals Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos as part of the club’s recruitment drive.

Speaking to Manchester United’s official website, Baleba expressed his excitement at completing the move.

“It is an incredible feeling to join the club of my dreams,” Baleba said. “Playing at Old Trafford is always special, but the opportunity to do so as a Manchester United player will be a real honour.”

“I cannot wait to work with Michael Carrick. His experience and knowledge of the game make him the perfect coach to help me reach the highest level.

“The ambition of everyone at the club is extremely clear, the future is hugely exciting, and I am determined to play my part in delivering the success that we are capable of achieving together.”

Baleba joined Brighton from French club Lille in 2023 and went on to make 112 appearances across all competitions for the Seagulls.

The midfielder featured in 31 Premier League matches last season, starting 23 of those games.

Baleba is currently working his way back to full fitness after missing the opening stages of the campaign due to an ankle ligament injury.
